ABOUT BLACFORJE

VALUES

Blacforje Magazine is a publication dedicated to covering underground artists within black metal, dungeon synth, and associated genres. The platform is designed to provide a premier journalistic experience for bands and artists who often get overlooked in mainstream publications.

Blacforje takes an unconventional approach to black metal and dungeon synth journalism. It does not fit all of the stereotypes associated with the genres, and that's intentional. Due to convictions, we do not support or promote NSBM, the occult, Satanism, self-harm, suicide, or misanthropy. Believe it or not, there are plenty of artists who don’t fall into those categories - yes, even in black metal and dungeon synth.

In summary, the ultimate goal of Blacforje is to elevate artists with messages that inspire the human spirit rather than degrade it.

For more clarity on our values and mission, make sure to read the interview in HM Magazine where our founder discusses all things Blacforje.

THE UNDERGROUND

Arguably hundreds, if not thousands, of fantastic artists have been born out of black metal and dungeon synth who write about the wonders of nature, mythology, faith, fantasy, and the human spirit's battle against the darkness. Unfortunately, many of them fall between the cracks, often being overlooked and forgotten. This is particularly true in such an already-niche genre like black metal, and arguably even more so in dungeon synth.

Black metal is an umbrella for a myriad of fantastic subgenres. We now have atmospheric black metal, blackgaze, blackwave, post-black metal, blackened death metal, blackened folk metal, and the list goes on. There is such a depth to the genre that is often overlooked by the mainstream.

We're here to help uncover the lesser-known bands and artists who are incredibly talented, yet they just need a seat at the table.

HISTORY

The publication was forged in early 2023 by Andrew Voigt, formerly a journalist and social media director at HM Magazine. His passion for black metal and dungeon synth drove him to create Blacforje as an outlet to share the lesser-known artists with a larger audience.

ONWARD

Blacforje is a new endeavor that will constantly be evolving and developing in order to be the #1 source of underground black metal and dungeon synth journalism in the world. Follow us on social media, if you're so inclined. If you like our content and our vision, share our website and articles with your friends! Without readers who join the Blacforje community, this publication is pointless. This is more than a digital magazine. Blacforje is a community of black metal and dungeon synth fans who want to be at the forefront of the genre's news, philosophies, and cultural happenings. We hope you join us!
